THE CENTER FOR MEDIATION AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION
WELCOME TO THE CENTER I have been mediating and arbitrating cases for well over 10 years, based on over 30 years in the law. My experience has shown me that there are better ways to resolve disputes than going to court. Here is a suprising fact -- in court, half the people lose their case. Would you rather have an all-or-nothing decision from someone you have never met and doesn't particularly care about you? Perhaps you would prefer to find a way to work out your conflict in a way that makes the most of your objectives. Mediation lets you be a part of the solution. It is less expensive than litigation. It does not always work, but people who have reached their own agreement in mediation are generally more satisfied and more likely to follow through with the terms of their agreement. Want to go to court? Have your seen the papers lately? There are drastic cutbacks in court budgets. That means fewer judges will be available, the judges will have larger dockets, and you will be waiting longer to get a trial. Some predict are that it will be years before a case filed today will get to trial. After that, of course, is the time spent on appeal. Even if you win your case, it could be years before you see the fruits of your labors. If you have not worked out your conflict on your own, let a professional help you.
